WAYNE NEWTON?
|
JANUARY
14: "Would anyone be interested in seeing a show when we are in Vegas? I'm thinking Thursday night would probably work out well for us all- Bé, myself, Glenn and Beth will have been in town since Wednesday, and Justin and Tina are coming in during the day on Thursday.
There are a couple of shows that I've been wanting to see. First and foremost is Wayne Newton. His tickets run 60 each. After that, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Blue Man Group (100+ each), O (100+ each) and Penn and Teller (75-100).
Anybody up for Wayne, or any other show? Love, Barney"

A BETTER IDEA.
|
AMAZING JONATHAN.
|
ALL SET.
|
|
JANUARY 14:
"Hey guys- The more I think about it--- that's 300 bucks per couple to see a show (more than 300 when you add in the tax and fees). That's pretty damn expensive. How about we do something a little less pricey - say something that comes in under 200 per couple?
Here's some suggestions for that.
Penn and Teller at the Rio - 70 per ticket. Steve Wyrick (voted magician of the year, 2000, 2001) at the Aladdin - 80 per ticket. Showgirls of Magic at the San Remo - 40 per ticket (hehehehe, they get naked, but they have gotten good reviews). Tony Danza at the Orleans (he sings and entertains....) 35 per ticket. Wayne Newton at the Stardust - 60 per ticket. Jose Feliciano at the Suncoast - 40 per ticket. Engelbert Humperdink at the Orleans - 40 per ticket.
Since Wayne Newton and Penn and Teller are out, I say Steve Wyrick or the Showgirls of Magic.
Love, Barney"
|
FEBRUARY 2:
"For the show, a couple of us have talked and decided we did not want to spend 150 on each ticket for a show this year. At the Golden Nugget, there is a comedian/magician by the name of the Amazing Johnathan. His tickets are about 60 bucks after fees and taxes. Who would like to go to that Friday night with Glenn, the weasel, Bé and I?
Love, Barney"

FEBRUARY
23: "Hey all- I'm going to buy the tickets for the Amazing Jonathon for Thursday night sometime this week. Show time is 10pm. Tickets are 55 plus tax and fees, so say about 60 each. I know that the
us, Justin and Tina, and Glenn and Beth are in (6 tickets total), and I don't think John will be in town until Friday. Before I buy 6 tickets, just wanted to make sure everyone is a yes.
Love, Barney"

|
|
STILL SET.
|
NOT ANYMORE.
|
|
MARCH
10: "This week I'm going to purchase the show tickets for the Amazing Johnathon for 6 of us
on Friday, April 30th. It does not seem like anyone else will be joining us for that. The tickets are going to run about 60 each, so whenever you can give me your money, that would be appreciated.
Love, Barney"

APRIL
4: "The Golden Nugget and The Amazing Jonathan have parted ways. He is in the process of signing a contract with the Riviera, and they hope to have him onstage by mid-late April (called the Riveara to find this out). They are in the midst of contract talks.
I'd really like to see a show Friday night when we are in town, and if we wait much longer, most good tickets are going to be gone for all shows - and if we wait for T.A.J. to sign his contract, we may not have a show to go to.
So, here are my suggestions - which would you like to do.
- Steve Wyrick - Magician at the Aladdin. Tickets run about 75 each.
- Dana Carvey - Comedy at the Mirage. Tickets run about 80 each.
- Tom Jones - Singing at the MGM Grand. Tickets run about 80 each.
- Zumanity, Another Side of Cirque du Soleil - NY NY. Tickets about 100 each.
Sorry Glenn,,, Carrot Top is not in town...
Let me know soon. Love, Barney"

APRIL
5: "Seeing that everyone spoke up at once, it does not seem that any of you are thrilled with the other show options given to us…. So, here's one last idea,,,, and it will free up your Friday evening to gamble even more - this is something we can do around noon on Friday.
At the Las Vegas Hilton, they opened "Star Trek, Borg Invasion". The "ride" is more of an immersive attraction that combines 3-D film, live actors, and chilling physical effect inside the theatre where they put us in the middle of a thrilling encounter with the Borg. The key to this attraction is that we are the focus of the action - not just watching the film but participating in the adventure. And for the 30 bucks, we can also go thru the original adventure that my Dad took us on 3 years ago - "Star Trek - Klingon Encounter". By doing both, we are looking at about a 2 hour max time commitment at the Hilton.
The tickets are 30 each and are purchased at the hotel.
If you want, you can check out the Web site www.startrekexp.com/
One last thing, unfortunately, Bé will not be able to go on the "adventure" with us due to the alien in her stomach. She said she would happily play slots in the Hilton while we do this. I do want her to see a show while we are out there - so I'm going to buy tickets for the 2 of us for Friday evening to see Wayne Newton as well. Anyone that would like to join us for that is more than invited - just let me know soon - I'm going to purchase those tickets in the next day or 2.
Love, Barney"

BACK TO WAYNE.
|
|
APRIL 5: "Ok, so I see I'm the only Trek-ee in the bunch...But, in my defense, I'm not so much a trek-ee that I
get dressed up as Captain Picard for Star Trek Conventions or movie premiers.....
I'll buy the Wayne tickets tomorrow - Give Beth some time to convince Glenn he wants to see Mr. Vegas...
Beth - If Glenn is stubborn, you can use the Ike Turner style of convincing.......
Love, Barney"

|
|
OR NOT.
|
AH FUCK IT.
|
APRIL
5: "God
Damn it! Wayne Newton is dark from 4/26 to 5/2. In his place that week, they are featuring Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme... Old time Vegas acts, yes, but they are not Wayne Newton.
Well, I'm just going to say f' it regarding the shows. If The Amazing Jonathan signs his contract with the Riveara soon, I'll purchase tickets for the 6 of us to that, but in the event they don't get the contract done in time for our trip, then maybe we just go for the seafood buffet at Rio that evening.. There's gotta be something that everyone can eat
there... Love, Barney"
|
APRIL
5: "As far as a show goes, I'm just going to wait to see if the Amazing Jonathan signs in time - according to his web site, he said his show would start at the Riviera on April 16 - but the Riviera is not confirming that. If he doesn't, then we just don't worry about a show.
Love,
Barney"

|
HOLD ON.
|
JESUS!
|
IT'S TOTAL CHAOS NOW.
|
APRIL
7: "Dear Glenn-Beth:
We are going to see either 'O' or Mystére (both Cirque du Soleil
productions) - basically, which ever has better tickets available at
this point. Let me know if you want in - as I am going to procure the
tickets this evening… They are going to run about 100 bones each.
Sincerely, Us
(PS- bite me.) Love, Barney"
|
APRIL
8: "We can get 6 tickets, front row - mezzanine seats for the blue man group
right now for the same price as the nose bleed Mystere seats. Is this
acceptable with everyone? Love, Barney"
|
APRIL
8: "Here's the situation as I see it...
1) I don't want to spend 100+ on Mystere tickets to sit 3 rows
from the back. 2) 'O' tickets for the weekend we are there are sold out.
3) I've heard several very mediocre reports about the Blue Man group -
and they are 100 each. 4) Several big name shows are dark the week we
are there - Wayne, Penn & Teller, Gans, Sigfreid and Dinner.... 5)
The Amazing Jonathan still says he is going to be at the Riviera
starting April 16 - so I will stay on top of that one. 6) Or, if you
don't want to wait to see if the Amazing Jonathan signs a contract, does
anyone have interest in Dana Carvey or Steve Wyrick (Justin and Tina,,,,
I'm sure the Arnold side of Glenn and Beth will poo-poo both) we can
see either of them. 7) Tina, I know you have interest in Tom Jones, but
I'm not too excited about that one.
Love, Your cruise director...."
