Monday December 20 2004. BLURRING.
Here's an interesting NY Times article about weblogs and how blogs are blurring the distinction between what's public and what's private. The article talks a lot about personal privacy issues and what should and shouldn't be blogged. It's a little long, but it's a good read and it'll kill some time, if you're in need of that.
BACKFIRE. PRIVACY.

Looks like I have my hands full on Christmas Day. I'm cooking dinner for my parents, Beth's mom, my brother, and my sister-in-law. Originally, Beth and I planned it this way to avoid the running around we usually do on Christmas. We thought it was a good plan, but we realize now that we're going to hafta clean, shop, cook, and sedate the dog. Big work.

Speaking of privacy issues, I think I've done a fairly admirable job of self-censorship. When I began this monstrosity almost five years ago (holy crap), I was a little worried about offending friends and family and who knows who else, but it never became a problem. I guess my unwritten policy is to write things that I'd only consider saying in person. Plus, most people I write about are pretty understanding, so that helps.
Yes, there have been situations in which people want me to remove certain things, but I haven't felt the need to delete anything as of yet. Of course, "yet" is the key word here. Hopefully, I'll continue to have decent judgment and that won't happen.
(Actually, my biggest fear is copyright infringement. I post way too many images and quote way too many sources without citation. Ah, well, I shouldn't worry about it. After all, I don't have that many regular readers, which is probably for the best.)
CAREFUL. CHARGERS.

Alright, alright, I give in. My Chargers won their division and they'll be in the playoffs. Although I doubt they can beat the likes of the Colts, Patriots, or Steelers (or, for that matter, the Jets or Ravens), I think I can start openly rooting for them now. Sure, they may not get to the Super Bowl, but I shouldn't let that stop me from gettin' into them. As long as I don't get too into them, though. I've been down this road before and it ends in a cliff.
So, I suppose I should try to learn all the players names now, shouldn't I?

AUTO-RESPONDER. NHL-Less, Careful, Backfire, Chargers, Heavy On Booze, Blurring, Auto-Responder, Privacy, and Wishes.
Whenever Justin is away from his work computer for the day, he sets up one of those automatic I'm Away From The Office email responder thingy-doodles. And every time I get one of those emails from his system, I can't help but to reply back to it with some sort of stupid response. I do that every freakin' time.
Do I have a problem, maybe?
NHL-LESS. HEAVY ON BOOZE.
You know what? Oddly enough, I don't miss the NHL. Maybe it's because the Capitals weren't exactly an NHL team in terms of caliber of play. Or maybe it's because I haven't been a lifelong hockey fan.
But I do know this: all of the air time that hockey would have received has been sucked up by Shaquille O'Neal. God, I'm tired of seeing him. Fer chrissakes, ESPN doesn't stand for Extra Shaq Programming Network.
