(U2's 3rd Album, Song #3, First 3 Words...)

Straight journalizing……(try to remain in the awake position)

……I did the Work Thing on Saturday and spent the evening farting around. Writing, surfing, smoking way too many cigarettes. Suzie and Sandy both emailed me and said they wanted to play on my coed team. They rock! Coco and Carrie stopped by to say hey. Carrie had never been to my house before, so she was strangely impressed. She thought I lived in a slum-hole. It must be that whole Single Guy Lifestyle Syndrome. I went back to work at 3 am just to see what my overnight crew was doing. Well, how about that? They were all working. It's good to surprise 'em every once in awhile.

……Sunday was a snow 'n' ice day, so Barney and I wandered about the house, bumping into each other. We were planning on attending a Super Bowl party at la casa de Kenny ("U-Haul") in the sticks, but the zamboni was in the shop. I finally managed to convince the Barnster to go up to Thursday's for the game--only after I offered to buy. And therein was my mistake. Sure, the pitchers were only $5, but the buffet was 20 bucks a pop. Jesus! I tried to order a bologna sandwich, but--as usual--they didn't have any (as if I actually liked bologna sandwiches anyway). So I spent $80 and we skidded back home in the 3rd quarter. Another fine day. Well, at least I didn't have to work.

……Monday, Monday, Monday. Hmm. Must not have been that important. What the hell did I do Monday? Lessee, I worked and then…nothing? Hell, I think the highlight of my day was getting a Pokemon Coupon Value Book with my Burger King Value Meal. Jeanne sent me a nice email, so maybe that was the highlight of my day. Tough to compete with a Pokemon Coupon Value Book, though. Anyway, I spent the night on ICQ with my pals Christie and Lisa shootin' the shit. Actually, Lisa is an ex-……well, let's save that for another day. I also spent half the night chasing my hermaphrodite cat around the house trying to keep her from pissing in corners. Don't ask…

……And today. I feigned work for 4 hours and then bolted on the pretense of doing some paperwork at home. Hey, being the bossman has some benefits to it. Some. Actually, I did play around with next week's schedule a bit, but that's about it. Barney and I watched some telly and I took a break from any computer-related activities (except for this). I read, listened to some U2, and did some heavy-duty fingernail cleaning. Woo-hoo! Yeah, that's a sign I should be off to bed.

So, the mindset lately has been one of calmness. Boring? Maybe. But dullness does have its advantages. There's no relationship turmoil, work stress, and I'm not being tortured in a foreign country. That's a plus.
