As
you may have figured out, we haven't
moved down to North
Carolina yet. I know, I know. We've been talking about it
for-freakin-ever, but we're just kind of dragging our feet. It's not
that we're lazy...ok, yes, we are lazy.
The thing is, it's such a huge deal to move.
Gotta get the house fixed up, take care of our crummy yard once it gets
warmer, have a pre-listing home inspection done, fix up the house again,
find a Realtor, clean the house from top to bottom, put it on the
market, keep it clean for months while no one comes and looks at, have
it suddenly sell, find a Realtor down in NC, find a job for Beth, scramble to find a house
down there,
make an offer on it, pack up all of our shit, clean the house again,
drive 5 hours with all of our worldly possessions in tow, unpack, and
then...okay, we're done.
Ugh. Just thinking about the whole Moving
Process makes my teeth hurt.
But just because we're lazy doesn't mean we
aren't trying to get things done. Getting the house fixed up has
become a priority and once that's taken care of, I think that'll kind of
get things rolling. The big things left to do are getting the carpet
replaced, have some electrical work done (replace some fuses and all of
the old wall outlets), re-tile the bathroom floor, and replace all of
the kitchen appliances. It's not a lot, but it's enough. If I was a
smart man, I would just make 4 phone calls--carpet people, electrician,
flooring company and Sears--and have it all taken care of. But I guess
I'm not a smart man. Instead, I'm trying to do what I can on my own. For
example, I'm gonna do the bathroom floor myself. Hey, I'm not that
incompetent--but wish me luck anyway.
So to answer the question: When are we moving?
Hell, I don't know. Maybe this year. Maybe not. It depends on how long
it takes me to re-tile a 5x5 bathroom floor. |
