All In.

To co-opt a fairly terrible catchphrase from one of the Washington Wizards TV commercials (yes, they really do exist), I am all in. Yep, all in.

No, no, no. I'm not all in with the Wizards. Dear God, no. I'm all in with the other resident of the Verizon Center: the Washington Capitals.

Although I've been following them pretty regularly for the last 10 years or so, I've really became obsessed with them last year and even more so this year. I'm watching every game on TV, I'm checking the Caps blog on the Washington Post website like 50 times a day, and my computer's wallpaper is all-Caps all the time. I've also got me a ton of gear: a hat, a bunch of t-shirts, a hoodie, a jersey (not the new one--yet), a mouse pad, etc. And I've been putting aside some money so that I can go to all of their playoff games. Hopefully, that'll cost me a lot of money. It's the quantity of playoff tickets, not necessarily the quality.

OK, you're probably saying, "Yeah, so? What's the big deal?" Well, for me it is a big deal because I normally don't throw myself into my sports team this way. Usually, I'm a bit tempered with my enthusiasm because of my history of loser-dom (see "Chargers, San Diego"). But not with the Caps. I'm realistic, yes, but I'm not holding myself back so as to avoid disappointment. I guess that's because the Caps haven't beaten me into submission like my other teams have (see "Padres, San Diego). The way I figure it, I've got another 20 years before that happens with the Caps.

Stupid dumb Chargers. Stupid dumb Padres. Go Caps.
