OK, now that the Holidays are over, I'm back in action around here. Yeah, I
know it's a shitty excuse, but it's all I got. Sorry.
Speaking of the Holidays, here are my
highlights:
- Finally getting the fireplace re-lined so
that we could have real fires (rather than lighting a few pathetic
candles in the fireplace) on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Nice.
- Spending a couple of days at my 'rents and
seeing my Dad's expression when we gave him an all-expenses paid trip to
see his sister in Cali.
- Having Beth's grandfather finally finally
finally
start to recover from his myriad of health issues. It was really touch
and go there for awhile, but by the end of the Holidays he was really
starting to improve.
- Getting a Wii for Christmas and subsequently
pummeling Beth in NHL 2K9 hockey (but, alas, not so much in that stupid
bowling game).
- Chargers beating the Colts in the playoffs!
And then...oops.
- Going to a wedding on New Year's Eve in Old
Town Alexandria--and then after the reception wandering off in a drunken
stupor to see a reggae band in a little hole-in-the-wall bar. Not sure
how that happened.
But above all else, I think the one thing that
I'll remember from this Christmas was something that was just a stupid
joke gift that I got for Beth and me (and for Jeff and Wanda too). It
wasn't much of anything, but I don't think I've laughed so hard in a looooooong time when we opened the box up:
