Well,
I knew it was gonna happen eventually. It always does, doesn't it? Yes
indeed, yet another of Glenn's Favorite Players has
left the building. Add Jeff Halpern to the list...
From The Washington Post:

"Jeff
has been a good story," Capitals General Manager George McPhee said. "He's a local kid who realized his dream of playing in
the league, and playing for his hometown team. It went well for
seven years. We were happy with his play. But he's made a decision
to move along. And we don't blame him for taking that kind of deal.
It's hard to turn that kind of deal down." |
The funny thing is, it really didn't bother me a whole lot after I
spotted the story in the paper on Thursday. Was it because I knew it
would happen someday? Or because the NHL lockout soured me on
hockey more than I thought? Or maybe because The Great Purging Of
Overpriced And Underperforming Washington Capital Players Of 2004 made
me realize that the Caps would never be the same team I grew to love
when I started watching hockey in '98?
Well, I do know this: I gotta stop spending 250 bucks on authentic
jerseys. I have a feeling the clock is ticking on Brian Schneider's
tenure with the Nationals.
Good luck in Dallas, Jeff. |
