Well, tomorrow is our six-month wedding anniversary and besides the
usual presents (we bought each other softball bats) and nice dinner
(tonight we're going to Our Restaurant, the Lamplighter), we're also
partaking in our own silly soon-to-be tradition: cheeseburgers and
champagne.
Why cheeseburgers and champagne? It started on
the night of our wedding. After I coerced Drinky upstairs to our hotel
suite on our wedding night, she said that Bridesmaid Heather had
thoughtfully ordered a cheeseburger and fries for her (not for me,
though, because I had other things planned--like a game of Scrabble).
So, after a looooong 45-minute wait, room service finally showed up and
we popped open the complimentary champagne.
So that's how it began. We decided that no
matter where we go for our wedding anniversary (New York, Paris,
Rome--or out on our back deck, more likely), we'll have cheeseburgers
and some bubbly.
And a side note: As we were waiting for room
service, Beth announced that her dad was coming up to the room for a
minute. Yeah, no shit. I thought that Scrabble game would never
get started. However, her dad just came by to drop off an envelope, so
it was all good in the end.
Uh-oh, I just thought of something: Does this
mean we have to include Beth's dad in our new tradition? |
