We've been called out on the carpet by our church team coach:

Subject: Softball?
WOW ! Not sure what to say, not sure what
the problem is, and not sure what to do about it. Any suggestions? For
the first three games we have been in a fog. We can't catch a ground
balls, turn every single into an extra base, don't hit the cut-off man,
and aren't hitting (anything else?) I would call a practice for Sunday,
if I thought more than 6 would show up. Guess we really missed the
preseason tournament.
Our early season defense has been less than
stellar in past years, but we have always hit and been able to overcome
our errors with runs. We don't play for 10 days. If you
are not playing on other teams, I suggest you try to get to a batting
cage a couple of times before the next game. We need to score some runs
and cut down on the errors.
Tonight, we'll be playing for the first time
since Jim sent this lovely email. Do you think he'll yank all of
us off the field? Could be... |
