I'm Experiencing Queasiness.

Today, I present to you a few recent quotes from various conservatives concerning V.P. nominee Sarah Palin's foreign policy experience:

"Remember, Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia. So it's not as if she doesn't understand what's at stake here."  (John McCain's wife Cindy)

If it was just Cindy McCain saying something like that, I could probably dismiss it, but other conservatives have picked up on this line of reasoning:

"Because her state borders two countries [Canada and Russia], she has a different perspective that the lower 48 [states] doesn't get."  (John Bolton, former member of the Bush administration)

Wait, it gets even better:

"Alaskan territory is also along the trajectory of ballistic missiles launched eastward out of Stalinist North Korea. For that reason, among others, Alaska's Fort Greely was selected as the site for the principal U.S. ground-based defense against such missiles. As that state's governor, Sarah Palin would know more by osmosis--if nothing else--about the necessity for U.S. anti-missile systems than either Messrs. Obama or Biden."  (Frank Gaffney, Center for Security Policy)

And, finally, this gem from none other than John McCain himself, during an nationally-televised interview with ABC's Charles Gibson:

GIBSON: But as you know, the questions revolve really around foreign policy experience. Can you honestly say you feel confident having someone who hasn't traveled outside the United States until last year, dealing with an insurgent Russia, with an Iran with nuclear ambitions, with an unstable Pakistan, not to mention the war on terror?

McCAIN: Sure. And one of the key elements of America's national security requirements are energy. She understands the energy issues better than anybody I know in Washington, D.C., and she understands. Alaska is right next to Russia. She understands that.

Do they really think we're that stupid? Really? Wow. Sure, Barrack Obama has very limited foreign policy experience as well, but I haven't heard anyone try to insult my intelligence like that.

Hey, maybe this means that I have domestic policy experience since I live only five miles from the Beltway.
